X (Twitter) analytics vs Own Edge
Short answer
X analytics tells you what each post did. Own Edge sorts your posts by what they are (type, opening line, tone, ask, length, time) and tells you which groups do better or worse than your usual, with every pattern tested against chance. Use X analytics for totals and single posts; use Own Edge to find out why some posts work and others do not.
| X analytics | Own Edge | |
|---|---|---|
| Numbers per post | 7: impressions, engagements, profile visits, follows, link clicks, bookmarks, detail expands | Reach, bookmarks and replies, each set against your own usual at that time |
| What a post is | Not recorded | Every post labelled: type, topic, opening line, addressee, tone, ask, length, time and more |
| Groups of posts | No grouping | Every group compared with the rest of your posts |
| Luck or pattern | Not tested | Each gap checked against chance on your own posts; what could be luck is not shown |
| Your replies | No view of where they land | Deep Check: where your replies land, by the size of the account you replied to |
| What to do | No recommendations | Deep Check: one concrete step per finding |
| Audience | Premium: demographics, active times, followers and non-followers | Not covered |
| Over time | Premium: time series | Your usual reach month by month over the window |
| Price | Built in; advanced analytics with Premium | Free plan, goal plan 9 € a month, Deep Check alone 9 € one-time |
When X analytics is all you need
If you want to know how many people saw a post, how your followers changed this month, or who your audience is, X has it, and Premium adds the audience side. Own Edge does not show demographics.
When it is not
The question “which of my posts actually work, and why” needs posts grouped by what they are and compared with the rest, one group at a time, with a check that the gap is more than luck. That is the part X leaves to you. For what such a test finds across accounts, see the research; for what it finds in one account, the example report.
Your posts are not the median
The same test runs on your own posts: the free plan reads your latest 50 through the official X API, read-only, and shows whether these groups hold up for you; the Deep Check names every one. About 2 minutes, no payment details.
Questions
Is X analytics enough?
For totals and for how a single post did, yes. It cannot tell you which kind of post works for you, because it never groups your posts by what they are.
Does Own Edge replace X analytics?
No. It reads your posts and their metrics through the official X API and adds what X does not do: labels for every post, groups, and a test against chance. Audience demographics stay in X Premium.
Can Own Edge post or change anything on my account?
No. It asks X only for read access (tweet.read, users.read, offline.access) and cannot post, like, follow or send messages.
Why not paste my posts into an AI chat?
A chat sees the text you paste, not your numbers against your own usual, and it has no test for luck, so it finds a pattern in anything. Own Edge measures every group and keeps only what passes.
